The Stainless Steel Rhino Wet Waste Interceptor

The Rhino Wet Waste Interceptor is a simple but highly effective device which filters out most of the organic solid matter before it enters the grease trap. By doing so, it prevents the organic material (food particles) from accumulating in the grease traps. As a result, the grease traps become more effective in separating the oil and grease from the water.

What does it provide?

  1. Reduces wet waste solids and grease from drains.

  2. Reduces maintenance of drainage systems.

  3. Reduces number of grease trap cleanings.

  4. Reduction of odors.

  5. Minimizes use of costly enzymes.

  6. Reduction of airborne bacteria.

  7. Reduces operating costs.

  8. Meets wastewater discharge compliance standards.

  9. At Source Recovery

The Problem

In most countries the restaurant industry is obliged by law to utilize grease traps to remove oil, grease and organic solid matter from waste water before it flows into municipal rains. Unfortunately, grease traps are generally under-sized and therefore ineffective.

A large portion of the oil and grease and solid organic material escapes into drain pipes and municipal sewers causing blockages and bad odors. The unblocking cost is a major financial burden to both restaurants and municipalities.

Municipal water-treatment facilities spend millions toremove these solids from waste water. Reducing the solids at source would significantly reduce the cost of municipal water treatment.

The Solution

The Rhino Wet Waste Interceptor is a simple but highly effective device which filters out most of the organic solid matter before it enters the grease trap. By doing so, it prevents the organic material (food particles) from accumulating in the grease traps.

As a result, the grease traps become more effective in separating the oil and grease from the water. Fewer costly drain blockages occur and fewer grease trap evacuations are required. Tons of solid waste are prevented from reaching municipal water treatment plants.

The Rhino Wet Waste Interceptor System installation would typically be under sinks before the water enters the drain or the existing grease trap filtration system.

How it Works

The Rhino Wet Waste Interceptor reduces the amount of wet waste solids and greases typically contained in the waste water generated by restaurants and commercial kitchens in food preparation.

Liquid containing wet waste from sinks is directed to the RHINO unit where it flows through a specially designed membrane. The elasticity of the membrane material creates passages for liquid to escape while retaining the wet waste solids.

Filtration Membrane

A specially designed filtration membrane (Pat. in U.S., and elsewhere), with unique characteristics to capture wet waste solids and grease.A user friendly retaining ring allows replacement in seconds.

Condition before the Rhino installation

Gradual build up of oil, grease and waste solids, causing blockages and odours to form in pipes and drains.

Condition after the Rhino installation

After installing the Rhino Wet Waste Interceptor, 85-90% of waste solids and grease is removed at point of entry, leaving clear water to flow in to the drains and sewer system.
